The original Withnail and I soundtrack only enjoyed a limited release due to the Jimmy Hendrix songs not being licensed correctly.

The soundtrack can boast being one of the only soundtracks to contain an original Beatles song - While My Guitar Gently Weeps - thanks to George Harrison’s involvement with HandMade Films.

The intro track - Whiter Shade of Pale - was recorded at the very last performance of King Curtis. He was shot after the gig in the car park outside.
